Camp Tadaka/Camp Radical

Welcome to Camp Tadaka & Camp Radical! Camp Tadaka & Camp Radical are recreational programs designed to provide enrichment, entertainment and recreation activities in a safe and secure environment for first through eighth graders. We are here to serve you with a high quality, convenient summer camp experience at a fair price. Please consult with one of the leaders or front desk staff if you have any questions.
Before signing up your children for any of the Day Camps, Fun Trips or Overnights, please consider their maturity, emotional and physical abilities.
ACTIVITIES
Arts and crafts, games, swimming, field trips and hikes, skating and bike rides are some of the activities we provide. Camp Tadaka will participate in all "Fun Trips". A calendar of the entire summer is available at the front desk.
PRE-REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
Camp Tadaka is a drop in program. You must have a completed release form on file prior to your child's first day of attendance. You may pre-register for any day. Pre-registration is required for all "Fun Trips". Fees start at $20.00 per day per child, which covers all activities. You have two payment options available: $90 for 1 week Monday-Friday , or pay by the day. Mail in your payment with your reservation, bring it by or just call in and we can take your credit card information over our secure phone lines.
Camp Radical is designed for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. If there are any openings that day energetic, prepared, younger (youth going into 5th grade) Tadaka participants may participate with parent and leader approval. We recommend pre-registration for Camp Radical. Radical only has a pay by the day and prices vary depending on the schedule activity for the day. Mail in your payment with your reservation, bring it by or just call in and we can take your credit card information over our secure phone lines.
HOURS AND DAYS OP OPERATION
Camp Tadaka - Monday thru Friday, Camp Radical - Monday thru Thursday from 7:30-6:30pm. Program dates are June 23 - August 29. Parents must sign their children in each morning by 9:15 unless stated otherwise on the calendar. Parents must sign their child out by 6:30pm or will be charged $5.00 per child for each fifteen minutes increment. For the most part, we shoot to return each day to the Recreation and Swim Complex at 4:30pm.
SIGN OUT POLICY
You must sign your child out before leaving the program. You have the options of designating someone else to pick up your child or allowing your child to sign themselves out. Use of either of these options must be designated on your release form. Only those designated on the release form will be allowed to sign your child out.
STAFF
All staff receives regular training in recreation program leadership. Prior to employment all staff must pass a drug test and submit to a Department of Justice fingerprint check.
PERSONAL BELONGINGS
The City is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. Please put your child's name on any item they bring to camp. Camp Tadaka youth will be allowed to play with their toys during the Fun Trip bus ride, (item/s must stay on the bus at all times), and in the evening when staff announce that personal toy/s can be played with. This will be around 4:30 each night. Radical Campers can use their items during the day, as long as they aren't participating in a program when Tadaka Campers are around.
TRANSPORTATION
Children walk, take the Blue Go Bus, City Vans or LTUSD School Bus to activities away from the Recreation Complex. On bike trip days you must bring a bicycle in good working order (no training wheels) and a helmet. If you do not have a bicycle your child will be transported that day in our van. On days that we leave the Recreation Complex you might be required to provide us with a child safety seat if your child is under 6 years of age, or under 60 pounds.
SNACKS AND LUNCHES
We provide simple snacks in the afternoon for Tadaka. You may also pack your own snacks. Parents need to provide their child with a lunch unless otherwise noted. Please feed your child a nourishing breakfast.
PROVISIONS
Please provide your child with appropriate clothing for that day's activities. Your child should brig a small backpack with a swimsuit, towel, water bottle, sunscreen, hat, lunch and a snack. Please write your child's name on all their belongings. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. We will be swimming most days.
DISCIPLINE
When unacceptable behavior occurs, staff will consult with the child and may impose ‘time out'. Corporal punishment will not be used.
CREDITS AND REFUNDS
No refunds or credits will be given for any Trip after 5:00pm the day prior. Credits will be given for non-trip days in rare events providing the child is ill, and you notify us by 8:30am the morning of the scheduled day. Please do not bring any child that is infectious or contagious in any way to the program.
Camp Radical: due to the limited available spaces you must notify us of any cancellation by 10:00am the day prior.
