Internship Program
Watch this space!
The City of South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Department will be offering three levels of Internships starting in 2009:
Level One will be at the highest level aimed at students in Parks and/or Recreation Graduate Degree programs.
Level Two will be the intermediary level and will be for students who have declared a major in Parks and/or Recreation Bachelors Degree programs.
Level Three will be the introductory level and will be for students who want to investigate Parks and Recreation as a career.
ALL programs have housing available as a part of the program, but it is limited and avaiable on a first come, first served basis. ALL programs also have a stipend attached.
These are serious internship programs, not just summer jobs. There will be exposure to all aspects of a City run Parks and Recreation Department and the opportunity to specialize in one or more areas of special interest. Level One and Level Two will have a project requirement.
The South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Department has designed a 10-16 week internship opportunity that will provide a student with a well-rounded experience which introduces them to all facets of a diverse, comprehensive parks and recreation program. This provides them with a "hands on" experience that reflects what recreation and park professionals do on the job to ensure the necessary and enhanced services to the community.
